It makes you go hmm…

Last week I shared my thoughts on The Shack and created a great storm of conversation!  Today I’m hoping to hear from you on great books that have stirred up a storm inside of you.

Currently I’m reading The Hole in Our Gospelby Richard Stearns.  This book has the potential to create change your heart.  Read other bloggers reviews here.

If you’ve never read books on Corrie ten Boom – put that on your summer reading list.  Start with The Hiding Place.  This woman’s life continues to inspire me months after reading her testimony.

There’s a “new to me” social website called GoodReads.com which helps you keep track of books you reading and what your friends.  Check it out and let me know what you think!

Links for Living!

Happy first Monday of 2009!  Today, I offer you three great links for better living!

  1. God and Control!  While researching our What’s on Your Mind subject for tomorrow, I came across a great illustration that demonstrates how we are still responsible while our great God remains in control.  I hope you participate in our blog carnival this Tuesday with your own post or comments!
  2. The Wild Goose!  My preacher/hubby-man delivered a great sermon this weekend based on the book by Mark Batterson.  If you are a reader, get your hands on a copy of this book.  If you’d like a taste, without reading, follow the first link to my home church where you can listen to the sermon!
  3. Organize by Design (for writers only):  Click on this link to learn about an interesting and cheap workshop for writers designed to organize your writing.  It’s a four week course (online) for $25.  Join me!

I’m looking forward to our first official What’s on Your Mind ‘09 blog carnival tomorrow – Tuesday!  Don’t miss out on all the fun!

Have you ever revealed the truth to someone only to have it eventually hurt you?  That’s the premise behind the opening chapter of Behind Those Eyes by Lisa Whittle.

When I first started unveiling the truth about my postpartum depression I was deeply hurt.  I remembering disclosing parts of my story to a trusted friend (or so I thought).  Can you guess what happened?

nothing.

absolutely nothing happened.

When we did talk, it was about nothing, or her own issues.  She never once asked me how I was doing, how my treatment was going, or if I could use any help. Continue reading ‘The Truth Hurts’

Captivate Your Heart

Have you ever noticed how kids can be mesmerized by the same movie over and over again and never get bored of it?

I observed this little phenomenon when my girls were stuck in the house this weekend due to excessive rain.  As I helped clean up the flooded basement I heard the sound of the stereo being turned on and the songs of Mulan being piped through the speakers.  Shortly after, I heard 2 little girls singing their hearts out as if they were on the stage of American Idol winning the attention of Americans everywhere!
