God’s light can shine through your brokenness

Clay pots might be able to hold treasures but they are easily broken.

How is your life broken today?

My bible study watched Anita Renfroe’s Momsense last night.  She is absolutely hilarious.  In her skit she talked about how in olden days people used to seek out clay pots with cracks.  Why?  They make the best lanterns.

When God’s light is the center of your broken life (and we all are broken) YOU become a beautiful lantern shining for all to see.

2 Corinthians 4:5-9:

For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

Shine on friend!

  1. I love this! While we may strive for perfection and to be free of blemishes, how much more beautifully God’s light can shine through our cracks and flaws.

What a wonderful reminder to accept and embrace the “me” God created. His strength is made perfect in my weakness.

    Keep shining as well!

  2. Shane, My 7 year old daughter described how we become broken and why! Here is the story I posted about her amazing words, she is filled with the spirit.

  3. That’s just beautiful, Shane, I never thought of clay pots as being cracked and hence used as lanterns. That’s me, a broken clay pot. I want Jesus light to shine through me too.

  4. This post really blessed me! Thanks for sharing it.

So, now I know it’s OK to be a crackpot. Oops, I mean a cracked pot.
