Today I have so much on my mind… I just don’t know where to start. So, I’m starting with a Manic Monday Meme. Will you join the fun? Just answer the following questions with me! Also, click on the icon to see other posts from around blog world.
#1. What gives you hope?
Belief in Christ Jesus [period]. However, that’s easy to write and hard to practice. Our church, like most of America, is suffering from poor finances. My hubby, the pastor, is stressed. How do you balance faith with making smart, fiscal decisions? I know he feels the weight of the problem on his shoulders. And it hurts. However, when we turn our eyes to Christ, our HOPE, and not focus on the stuff of this world, we can step forward in faith.
Psalm 119:36-38:
Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word. Fulfill your promise to your servant, so that you may be feared.
#2. How often do you get your haircut? Describe your worst haircut.
I love this question! I was just thinking I’d like my hair to grow out again. I’ve been a bob girl for a while now. Actually I’ve been in and out of a bob for many, many years! Getting my hair cut is like therapy! So I do it about every 3 months or so. If I can stretch it out longer I try to in order to save a little cash.
Worst hair cut? Let me look through pictures… and I’ll get back to you on that one!
#3. What’s your most treasured piece of jewelry? Why?
Honestly, I don’t own any good jewelry. The reason? I loose it. Seriously. As a kid I wore my Mom’s precious opal ring to school and LOST it. Yep. Sorry Mom. I do still have a beautiful large opal ring that my parents gave me for high school graduation (what were they thinking)! The opal has a small crack in it and jewelers have told me not to wear it ’cause it could break all together. When I become independently wealthy, I’ll have it re-set!
FINAL QUESTION – are YOU ready for tomorrow’s What’s on Your Mind ‘09? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on if it is ever wrong to do the right thing! If you need some ideas to help answer this question here’s a place where others have already been talking about it!
By the way, comments are still open on the weekend’s post of God as Creator.

My last haircut was the worst one. It was done in October. I am heading to Oklahoma in 10 days and one of my friends there does hair. I can’t wait to get it done. I normally get my hair done about 2-3 months.
Tomorrows topic is a really hard one. Not quite sure if I am ready or not. :)
I guess I’m not the only one who do not have any good jewelries.. Have a great Monday! :)
I tend to stick with the bob, too. :)
My hope as well comes from the Bible, and that with God all things are possible- including help with my marriage.
Jewelry – Earrings are it – my favorite piece is whatever the last (cheap) pair I bought was.
Hair – I chopped it all off and I just want it back – grow come on grow already!
Hebrews 11:1 ~ Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.
Elpizo is the Greek word for ‘hoped for’ and it means having an attitude of confidently looking forward to what is good and beneficial. So for me, hope is an attitude that reflects the faith I have in the good and beneficial plan of God.
Hair cut…when I just can’t stand it anymore I give in and head for the local salon. Good? Bad? Not sure, since I never seem to be completely happy with it!
Jewelry…A simple silver ring that has the word “hope” engraved on it!
Hope — Just knowing that God hears my concerns, and is there for me 24/7, gives me hope; plus the fact that heaven awaits me.
Haircut — Because it’s long, I can usually go 12-16 weeks between trims. I have never had a horrendously bad haircut, but I have had some bad hairdresser experiences; like the one that showed up late and with a black eye and a very punked out look. Terrifying actually.
Jewelry — my wedding ring.
I used to have a bob for years … now it’s just long.
I played too :)
Hey, thanks for visiting my place. I’m glad you like the name, because sometimes I get funny reactions (laughter, for one). And I worry that it’s a bit too long.
By the way, I did get the new phone yesterday. Have not taken them up on the job, however.
Blessings!
Feeling rather manic myself today. #1. Jesus/The Bible/God
#2. Too many to recall – wicked perm, hairdresser burning some hair with a too hot curling iron, I could go on. #3. I lose it all too!!!! Already lost my original wedding band quite a few years ago and recently got another one. I shouldn’t take it off…ever! Peace out!
1. What gives me hope? (thoughts of heaven)
2. How often do I cut my hair? (3 months minimum…)
3. Treasured jewelry? (ten year anniversary wedding ring)…like you, I’m hard on jewelry!
Be back tomorrow.
peace~elaine
Hope for me is JESUS. Because everything I know about Him gives me HOPE. And I know there is sooooo much more about Him which I cannot begin to fathom. He is more wonderful than I can imagine – and that just makes my hope increase.
As for the hair…It was long from ages 7ish to 31. I might go a year without getting it cut. Worst “haircut”? That would be the shaving performed by the surgery prep team on January 30, 2003. (or 31 – can’t rememeber) And though I thought I’d grow it out again, I have kept it short for the past six years, and love it. I don’t like to go more than 5 weeks between hair cuts now.
And the jewelry. My most treasured piece would have to be my wedding ring. Nothing else has much value – literally or sentimentally.
“My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.” Feel like singing with me? :o)
I get my hair cut every 8 weeks! I LOVE going to my hairdresser’s. She is probably in her 60’s and she is a beautiful Christian lady. We share such sweet fellowship together that my visit is worth every penny I spend. We talk about the Lord the entire time. I am letting my hair grow right now – time for a change.
Worst haircut had to be when I was in High School – oh…those yearbook pictures are scary!!!
My most treasured piece of jewelry would be my wedding ring, but…I have so many other really special pieces of jewelry – mostly because they remind me of the person who gave it to me and so I treasure those pieces just as much.
Fun questions! Have a great day!
Love & prayers,
